Video Engineer

Avant Gardner is the epicenter of New York City entertainment. The 80,000 square foot venue complex occupies an entire city block of industrial East Williamsburg, containing a compound of stages and full-service event spaces. Avant Gardners diverse calendar celebrates community and culture, offering an endless range of experiences, highlighted by the spaces unrivaled audio visual features. The vast complex includes The Brooklyn Mirage, The Great Hall, and The Kings Hall, which all serve as individual locales, or combine to make Avant Gardner the second largest entertainment venue in Brooklyn.

We are seeking a Video Engineer in the East Williamsburg/Bushwick area as we are looking to scale up our video department to host more complex productions. We are hoping for the person in this position to grow and learn together with us.

THE JOB

• Lead installs and setups of video wall components
• Operate video switchers with multiple sources and destinations
• Operate control consoles and video switchers
• Oversee LED wall setup and calibration
• Compress, digitize, duplicate, and store video data per event needs
• Interface with the Artist/Client Production team on run of shows
• Provide design ideas and solutions during on-site set up and rehearsals
• Ensure safe and consistent operation of video equipment and rigging tools and instruments
• Perform preventive maintenance and repair for all video inventory, equipment, and cables
• Assist in an organized system for handling day to day tasks and operations within the venue

QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years relevant recent video streaming experience in wide variety of event venues
• Absen and Unilumin LED video wall experience
• Media systems and media servers experience
• Digital video formats conversion experience
• Content management experience
• Ability to pay attention, adapt to changes, and function well in a live production setting
• Exceptional communication skills with internal teams, artists and clients teams, and vendors

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be willing to work long shifts, including nights, weekends, and possible holidays
• Must be willing to work outdoors (all seasons)
• Must be able to move, pull, carry or lift at least 50 pounds
• Must be comfortable working in an environment with moderate to loud noise level
