POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Controller will oversee Rosenbauer America’s daily accounting and financial functions. They will be responsible for overseeing financial planning, managing financial processes, and handling budgets.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

All employees are required to support Rosenbauer’s Mission, Vision, and Values. The following are the essential duties of this position and do not include marginal functions that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer.

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting function, including month and year-end processes, balance sheet reconciliations, accounts receivable and payable policies, general ledger transactions, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, and capital management.
  • Deliver timely and accurate P&L and Balance Sheet accounting in compliance with GAAP and policies and procedures, utilizing current best practices to maximize value and efficiency.
  • Lead and bring accountability to the team by building a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement that values learning and commitment to quality.
  • Maintain effective financial control by managing approval levels, separation of duties, and other financial controls.
  • Summarize findings on the monthly, quarterly, or annual reports to the site management team and business unit finance. Provide insights to support decision-making and operational improvement.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects that impact financial performance.
  • Act as a point contact to auditors and assist with providing pertinent information.
  • Have an active role in the budget process.
  • Sustain the Quality Management System with required departmental standards.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the company.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’S):

Knowledge, Education, and/or Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting required.
  • CPA license required.
  • Masters degree in Accounting preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in accounting finance required.
  • 5+ years in leadership/management roles required.

Skills:

Language:

  • Able to read, reason, and interpret financial reports and legal documents.
  • Able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Able to effectively present information to all levels of the organization, public groups, and/or board of directors.
  • Able to build relationships through excellent communication.

Math:

  • Proficient in data analytics related to accounting and finance.
  • Proficient in understanding arithmetic, percentages, compounding interest, statistics, probability and linear algebra related to finance functions.

Computer:

  • Able to learn and navigate effectively in an ERP system, strong database knowledge (Power BI preferred) and advance Excel skills.

Abilities:

  • Excellent data analysis and trend identification skills with the ability to show the impact of the analysis on the financial statements.
  • Demonstrated skills in coaching employees and facilitating process and culture change.
  • Exceptional judgement and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • High level of organization, time-management skills, and self-discipline.
  • Analytically and highly motivated individual, with acute attention to detail.
  • Able to recognize the importance and adherence to all safety policies.
