Job Summary: The position of Building Elements Technical Coordinator will assist the Building Element Technical Advisor in the areas of design, estimating and managing the conceptual phase of new accounts and projects. The Technical Coordinator will maintain standard operations while the Technical Advisor is on travel.

Essential Functions:

  1. Design:
    1. Works with the customer, account representative, Technical Advisor, and sales team to secure more technical information upfront to provide conceptual drawings.
    2. Collaborate with the Building Element Technical Advisor to interpret design requirements and specifications.
    3. Assist in the development of design concepts and solutions to meet project objectives.
    4. Review technical drawings and provide feedback to the design team as needed.
  2. Estimating:
    1. Work closely with the Building Element Technical Advisor to assist in estimating project costs and timelines.
    2. Gather technical information and specifications required for accurate estimations.
    3. Prepare take-offs for the estimating process.
    4. Assist and prepare detailed estimates and proposals for clients.
    5. Maintain material pricing updates in estimating software.
  3. Technical Coordination:
    1. Serve as a liaison between sales, design, estimating, production, and installation teams to ensure alignment of technical requirements.
    2. Communicate technical information and requirements effectively to all relevant stakeholders.
    3. Assist in resolving any issues/changes that may occur within the project by communicating in a professional manner and ensuring to always protect Allen Industries assets.
    4. Maintain accurate documentation of design revisions, estimating data, and project specifications.
    5. Prepare reports and presentations summarizing technical aspects of projects as needed.
    6. Visit customers and job sites as necessary.
  4. Communication/ Customer Interface:
    1. Works with upper management to provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.
    2. Work with account representative/ sales team to determine customer needs and expectations.
    3. Return emails and phone calls from internal and external customers the same day.
    4. Communicates with the customer’s preferred communication style, be it a phone call or email.
    5. Proactively keep the Technical Advisor, sales, account manager and customer informed and updated.
    6. Avoid distractions when in meetings by listening attentively and participating.
    7. Solicit feedback from internal and external customers regularly and provide feedback to others.
    8. Makes others feel comfortable by being approachable and a team player.
  5. Continuous Improvement:
    1. Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and new technologies related to building elements design and estimating.
    2. Provide input and suggestions for process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  6. Safety:
    1. Follow the rules and regulations related to the safety of all employees working for the Company.
    2. Adherence to all mandated safety procedures, including driving policy, production area safety requirements and fire safety.
    3. Safety requires all employees to review materials provided by the Company related to any updates on safety procedures.
    4. Informs management of any safety-related issues

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to perform the following activities:

  1. Standing.
  2. Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.

  9. Visual Acuity. To perform close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; and visual inspection.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, 40-hour-a-week position with overtime as required.

Travel: This position requires up to 10% travel, including domestic and international travel.

Educational Requirements:

  1. Associate degree from an accredited university or college.

Preferred Educational Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.

Knowledge Requirements:

  1. Drafting and Design Principles
  2. Estimating and Takeoff Principles
  1. Strong understanding of construction principles, building materials, and technical drawings.
  1. CAD and 3D Modeling based software; preferably in CorelDraw and Sketchup.
  2. Estimating and Takeoff Software; preferably in On-Screen Takeoff and QuickBid.
  3. Experience with ERP software; preferably in Jobscope.
  4. Proven training and experience with KPI’s
  5. Proven training and experience in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
  6. Experience with Microsoft Office 365 applications such as Teams, One Drive, Zoom
  7. Advanced level computer skills with common PC-based software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  8. Understanding business processes is essential.

  10. Mechanical Aptitude
  11. Ability to get a passport for travel.
