Overview
The ERCP Technician (Endoscopy Tech) plays a crucial role in providing technical support for Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) procedures. They work closely with the medical team to ensure the efficient and safe operation of endoscopy equipment, contributing to the overall success of patient care and treatment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and maintain endoscopy equipment for ERCP procedures
- Assist physicians and nurses during ERCP procedures
- Monitor patient vital signs and provide supportive care during procedures
- Ensure proper handling and storage of endoscopy instruments and supplies
- Assist in the transportation and positioning of patients for procedures
- Collaborate with the medical team to optimize workflow and patient care
- Document and maintain accurate records of procedures and equipment usage
- Adhere to infection control protocols and ensure a safe environment
- Participate in the maintenance and cleaning of endoscopy equipment
- Provide patient education and support before and after procedures
- Assist in training and mentoring new staff members
- Adhere to relevant regulatory and quality assurance standards
- Participate in the review and implementation of best practices and protocols
- Contribute to departmental initiatives and quality improvement projects
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities
- Associate's degree in Surgical Technology or related field
- Certification as an Endoscopy Technician or eligibility to obtain certification
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in endoscopy or a related medical setting
- Demonstrated knowledge of ERCP procedures and equipment
- Proficiency in medical terminology and documentation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Attention to detail and adherence to protocols and procedures
- Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Understanding of infection control and patient safety principles
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and assist with patient positioning
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and healthcare technology
- Flexibility to work variable shifts and participate in on-call rotation
