Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical/Electronic Engineer to add to our dynamic engineering team at Sunoptic Technologies – a world leader in medical device design and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have 6-10 years of experience in electrical/electronic engineering, with a focus on designing and developing electrical systems and subcomponents. The role emphasizes adherence to proper engineering practices, particularly in the field of medical device engineering, light circuit design, electrical device safety, and regulatory compliance. Proficiency in PCB design, coding (especially in C++), and expertise in design principles are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize advanced design skills to create and optimize electrical systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Design and layout PCBs for electronic circuits using software such as Altium, paying attention to precision and functionality.
- Write, debug, and maintain code in C++ for embedded systems and electronic devices.
- Collaborate within a dynamic engineering team to develop electrical systems from conceptualization to production, ensuring efficiency and reliability.
- Implement rigorous quality control processes to guarantee the safety and reliability of electrical systems and devices.
- Maintain accurate documentation of designs, schematics, and coding for reference and compliance purposes.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and electronic system issues throughout the device's lifecycle.
- Create and execute comprehensive testing, verification, and validation procedures.
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to incorporate innovative solutions into projects.
- Efficiently manage projects, deadlines, and communicate progress to stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications:
- 6-10 years of related experience in electro-mechanical device design.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Background in PCBA design, including schematic reading/writing, breadboarding, EMI containment/suppression, and system component integration.
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems applicable to light sources and peripheral systems.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to create and maintain project files, schedules, and budgets.
- Ability to work effectively with people in both technical and non-technical roles.
- Proficiency in English (does not have to be first language).
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks/projects independently.
Industry Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of regulatory agencies and requirements, including FDA GMP, CSA C22.2 No. 601.1-M90, UL60601, IEC60601-l, IEC60601-1-2, CE, etc.
- Experience with certifying projects to relevant standards.
- Previous experience with ISO 9001 or ISO 13485.
Requirements:
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
- 6-10 years of work experience in the industry.
- Technical project leadership with capacity planning, budgeting, and providing mentorship for junior engineers.
- Strong technical knowledge of medical device technologies.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently and in a team.
- Innovative approach to problem-solving.
