SUMMARY

The Cost Accountant develops, interprets and implements complex financial accounting concepts or techniques for financial planning and control but performing the following responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for performing day-to-day general ledger accounting, financial reporting and analysis
• Research and prepare economic reports on subjects such as rate of return, depreciation, working capital requirements, investment opportunities, investment performance
• Coordinate with all levels of management to gather, analyze, prepare, summarize, and prepare recommendations regarding financial plans, acquisition activity, trended future requirements and operational forecasts
• Direct preparation of studies, reports, analysis, and provide recommendations in areas such as budgets, forecasts, financial plans, statistical reports and business forecasts
• Data capture and analysis using Excel tools
• Design and implement cost accounting systems to enhance operational efficiency
• Responsible for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close for assigned functional areas
• Conduct studies to analyze complex financial actions and prepare recommendations for policy, procedure, control or action
• Evaluate complex profit plans, operating records and financial statements
• Provide interpretation of financial policies, accounting theory, or customer financial regulations
• Communicate with business unit supervisors relating to financial close issues and deliverables
• Analyze production costs and recommend changes where appropriate
• Perform balance sheet account reconciliations, account analysis, accrual calculations and other related accounting procedures/schedules
• Review and research accounting transactions

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor Degree (B.A.) in Finance or Accounting from a four-year college or university; five (5) or more years related experience and/or training; Public Accounting experience a plus; CPA License preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Expert level of Excel knowledge, Microsoft Dynamics- NAV helpful, ERP System capability.

Detail oriented with exceptional follow-through and organizational skills

Ability to work within a fast-paced, collaborative, and entrepreneurial environment.

Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work with internal and external business partners, consultants and clients. Ability to work independently and with a team.

Strong budgeting, financial forecasting and financial analysis skills required
