Caregiver: Companion/CNA

Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Nurse Caregiver to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing care and be proficient in utilizing medical equipment such as a Hoyer lift for patient transfers. They should possess exceptional communication skills and be able to provide assistance with activities of daily living, including bowel movement assistance and skilled transfers.

Responsibilities:

1. Patient Care: Provide compassionate and skilled care to patients in accordance with their individual care plans and medical needs.

2. Utilization of Medical Equipment: Proficiently operate and utilize medical equipment, including but not limited to Hoyer lifts, to safely transfer patients with mobility limitations.

3. Assist with Bowel Movements: Provide assistance with bowel movements in a respectful and dignified manner, ensuring patient comfort and hygiene.

4. Skilled Transfers: Perform skilled transfers of patients from beds to wheelchairs, chairs, or other surfaces using appropriate techniques and equipment to prevent injury to both the patient and caregiver.

5. Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor patients' vital signs, symptoms, and overall condition, promptly reporting any changes to the nursing team or healthcare provider.

6. Medication Management: Assist with medication administration as directed by healthcare professionals, ensuring accuracy and compliance with medication protocols.

7. Personal Care: Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, while maintaining their dignity and privacy.

8. Emotional Support: Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families, fostering a supportive and nurturing environment.

9. Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care activities, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes, in accordance with facility policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

1. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification: Must hold a valid LPN or CNA certification, demonstrating competency in nursing skills and patient care.

2. Experience: Previous experience working as a nurse caregiver in a healthcare setting is preferred.

3. Hoyer Lift Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to safely operate and utilize a Hoyer lift for patient transfers is essential.

4. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

5. Compassion and Empathy: Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.

6. Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical tasks associated with patient care, including lifting, transferring, and assisting with mobility.

7. Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately, ensuring patient safety and well-being.
