Job Description

SUMMARY

Assists in the quality control program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Quality System:

  • Identify problems and assist in timely disposition of non-conformances and corrective actions.
  • Communicating with employees, customers, and suppliers as needed to solve problems.
  • Assist in the development and tracking of quality objectives and metric data.
  • Documenting and reporting product or service quality levels.
  • Assist in the review, implementation, and maintenance of specifications and standards.
  • Develop, execute, and maintain quality policies, instructions, and specifications.
  • Continuously monitor operations to ensure compliance to internal and customer-imposed specifications.

Audits:

  • Assist in Internal Quality Audits, including reporting, follow-up, and closure of non-conformance.
  • Assist in Supplier Quality Audits, including reporting, folow-up, and closure of non-conformance.
  • Assist in the coordination and hosting of quality audits by customers, registrars, etc., to achieve or maintain quality accreditations.

Navy / Marine Contracts:

  • Review Navy / Marine customer contracts, including RFQ.
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, and manufacturing functions as needed to ensure quality standards, documentation, processes, and drawings are in place to meet customer requirements.
  • Review processes for compliance to invoked specifications (ASTM, ASME, Military, etc.).
  • Develop internal process forms summarizing product requirements for use by applicable departments.
  • Submit formal requests for information, deviation, approvals, etc., to satisfy customer needs.
  • Comply with all cyber and physical security requirements set forth by the company to protect confidential information (NNPI, NOFORN, CUI, etc.)

Product Certification:

  • Review supplier certification for accuracy to purchase order requirements.
  • Input, organize, and maintain material data and documentation via computer software
  • Develop and submit product certification packages as required by customers

General:

  • Under general direction from management, work from policies and general objectives with little functional guidance.
  • Observe all company policies and regulations including safety, housekeeping, confidentiality of information, and quality of work with support and working knowledge of the Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO 9001.
  • Operates computers and common office equipment.
  • Support, encourage and maintain a positive team working atmosphere throughout the company.
  • Prepare and submit reports, documents and records required by company policy.
  • Organizes and maintains file system and files correspondence and other records.
  • Support continuous quality improvement in all processes in which this position participates with a positive "Can Do" attitude.
  • Perform other duties as requested or necessary to meet business conditions and changes.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES - Designate for Corporate Quality Assurance Manager

QUALIFICATIONS

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Requires knowledge and understanding of metallurgical and quality assurance programs, testing processes and procedures, computer hardware and software.
  • Requires written and verbal presentation skills and the ability to multi-task and interface with personnel and customers at various levels of the organization.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE -

Two-to-Four-year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS -

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS – Metallurgy / Materials Science Degree and/or Quality Assurance Certification recommended by not required.
