SUMMARY:

In this role you will create detail, assembly, and installation drawings along with substantiation documentation for avionics systems. You will be an integral part of a team, working closely with customers and subcontractors to ensure design requirements are fully defined and compliance with FAA airworthiness regulations can be achieved.

 

Will complete technical reviews of other documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Development of Detail parts, Assembly/sub-assembly, and installation drawings
  • Creating aircraft wire routing drawings
  • Creation of new and evaluation of existing manufacturing process specifications
  • Assist in the preparation and verification of documentation required for airworthiness certification such as Instructions for Continued Airworthiness and Flight Manual Supplements,
  • Generate, review, or provide input for structural substantiation reports, analyses, and tests
  • Coordinate with other engineering, manufacturing, or specialty personnel to resolve problems, including execution to program schedule and cost requirements
  • Provide support to manufacturing suppliers during fabrication and assembly of components
  • Periodic travel to project/client sites, domestically and internationally, may be required


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering technology or related fields; or 5 years of directly related experience.
  • Highly proficient use of Computer Aided Design solutions such as SOLIDWORKS and AutoCAD to design and complete drawings for production and manufacturing
  • Demonstrated proficient knowledge in aircraft structures, avionic and or mechanical systems installation, and aircraft completions/integration
  • Detailed working knowledge to interpret installation and component/part drawings, aircraft manuals, and system installation manuals
  • Substantial knowledge of aircraft structural design concepts, structural analysis methodology, and current industry standards. Experience analyzing metallic and composite structures using FEA and classical hand analysis for determination of loads, stresses, and compliance with airworthiness standards
  • Knowledge of FAA 14 CFR Part 21 Aircraft Certification Requirements. Experience with 14 CFR Part 23, 25, 27, or 29 aircraft certification with the ability to design for compliance
  • Be able to work either alone or as a team to solve problems
  • Has a self-starter mentality with the ability to generate alternative ideas and demonstrate sound problem-solving skills

The applicant must be able to read, write, and understand English fluently.  Qualified candidates should be able to speak effectively to customers about company products and how they perform. The applicant must possess the ability to write routine reports and correspondences.


OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

Candidates must have a strong command of computer desktop tools such as MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) to assist in completing essential duties. Effectively demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the person is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time and an air-conditioned and heated office.  The noise level is occasionally high.
