Position Overview

Prince George’s Christian Academy has a need for a dynamic full-time Sr. Athletic Director. This role is a hands-on leadership position responsible for all aspects of the Athletic Department. The incumbent will report to the Superintendent.

Athletic Director Job Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain an environment that promotes the values of Prince George’s Christian Academy and First Baptist Church of Glenarden, (i.e., Christian discipleship and character, servant leadership, humility, sportsmanship, and academic and athletic excellence).
• Provide leadership and guidance for sports programming.
• Develop and regulate budgets for athletic programs and appropriate spending on salaries, equipment, facilities, referees/umpires, and training.
• Maintain orderly, clean, and safe facilities and equipment.
• Recommend conference for sports program entry.
• Select, recruit, and supervise coaching staff.
• Develop an evaluation tool to monitor and evaluate coaches.
• Collaborate with coaches to develop practices and league schedules.
• Maintain a master schedule for all sports activities, games, and events.
• Secure travel arrangements for all sports teams.
• Manage sports events, ensure security, collect admissions, process funds, and consult with athletic trainers/paramedics.
• Oversee the NCAA Eligibility process for athletic programs.
• Compile and store team statistics for accurate and prompt reporting.
• Compile and store athletes’ eligibility data (i.e., permission slips, physical examinations, emergency contacts, grades, and the NCAA Eligibility status).
• Ensure compliance with Prince George's Christian Academy, league policies, associations, and the NCAA Eligibility Center.
• Promote training and professional development for coaches.
• Organize fundraising and promotional opportunities for sports programs.
• Prepare and present social media posts and reports on teams/programs.
• Serves as the liaison with school administrators, leagues, coaches, parents, referees, the public, and all other associations.

Athletic Director Qualifications and Skills

• Passion for education and dedication to serving the Christian community.
• Membership, in good standing, of a local Bible-believing church, or willingness to become a member.
• Agreement with our Statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of education.
• Commitment to being a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions.
• Strong interpersonal communication
• Ability to effectively manage relationships with school administrators, coaches, parents, associations, and the public.
• Proven leadership experience in athletic programming and managing funds.
• Ability to grow athletic programs in an established league.
• Highly organized in handling multiple administrative and athletic tasks
• Functional computer and technology skills
• Strong analytical skills to solve problems and delegate tasks.
• Capacity to conduct training and establish appropriate professional development for coaches, parents, and self.
• Skilled at motivating and guiding coaches and athletes.

Education and Experience Requirements

• At a minimum, the candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in sports management, health, physical education, or other educational-related fields.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Five years of athletic, coaching, and teaching experience required.
• Knowledge of fundraising and promotional events for sports programs.
