Drain and Sewer Technician

Under general supervision, perform a wide variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the construction, repair, cleaning and maintenance of sewer systems, metering equipment, traffic control devices and all related facilities. Technically savvy individual, customer-friendly who creates a quality first impression every time and provides diagnosis and long-term, permanent solutions for sewer issues. The camera technician is positioned as the sewer expert who can pinpoint sewer issues, reasons for them and provide sound, permanent solutions for clients to choose.

· Accurately traces sewer lines using professional sonar equipment.

· Considers labor, material, permit, equipment and subcontractor expense prior to presenting price to clients to ensure projects meet job profitability targets.

· Establishes professional and pleasant rapport with all associate drain technicians and dispatchers.

· Takes photos of the job site and provides a thorough description of work to be performed to set the install crew up for success and ensure the install team delivers an excellent customer experience.

· Provides a description of diagnosed problems to customers in terms that can be understood with options, as possible. Explains the features and benefits of each solution. Obtains agreement for services before performing work.

· Cleans drains in homes and commercial buildings by using cable or high pressure water jetting on main drains or secondary drains. Performs pipe inspection with cameras.

· Unclogs sewers, kitchen and bathroom sinks, tubs, toilets, etc. using plumbing snakes and machines.

· Maintains and fuels assigned vehicle, stocks the service truck with adequate parts and maintains machinery.

· Transports materials and tools to the job site and provides proper accounting of tools.

· Completes all required documentation on services and may collect, record and deliver fees to the office.

· Be able to successfully perform basic drain cleaning functions using small to large sized drain cleaning machines.

· Have the basic knowledge of how a plumbing system works.

· Be able to remove and reset a toilet and a p-trap.

· Operate construction and maintenance equipment such as dump trucks, front end loader, backhoe, skid steer, vactor, sewer jetter, compressors.

· Operate jackhammers, concrete saws, sewer rodder, sewer tv equipment; maintain hand tools and assigned equipment; identify equipment needs for each assigned project.

· Work as part of a sewer maintenance crew; inspect and clear obstructions from storm drains, sewer lines; make sewer line connections; flush and televise sewers.

· Perform the installation and maintenance of pipe laying and pipeline repairs, repair of water mains, water services, fire hydrants and valves; flush main water line and hydrants as necessary.
