Mechanical Assembler

Location: Detroit MI. Detroit Metro Area

Position Summary:

The Mechanical Assembler will perform assembly work on automated material handling and shelving systems. The assembly will all be performed in accordance to specifications. Testing parts after assembly, when required. Tasks can be repetitive and require good hand-eye coordination. The Mechanical Assembler must be organized, have good housekeeping habits, and be self-disciplined. Experience a plus but not required. Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

• Assemble storage and shelving units using a variety of hand and power tools according to specifications.
• Read instructions for assembly.
• Detect and separate faulty parts.
• Material handling systems.

Position Requirements:

• 18 yrs of age or older

• Able to meet physical demands of service (Shelving system assembly, material handling)

• Has a High School diploma or equivalent

• Can read and write English sufficiently to perform tasks

• Experience in component assembly is highly desired.

• Ability to work independently, must be reliable and as part of a team.

• Must fully understand and adhere to maintenance, safety, and quality processes and procedures.

• All candidates are subject to pre-employment verification and drug test.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the key actions of job:

• Push, pull, lift and ability to carry up to 50 pounds.

• Standing, kneeling, bending and walking throughout work day.

• Vision requirements: close, distance and peripheral vision.

   

Schedule / Work Hours:

• 6 days/week

• 10 hours / day

• Work day will begin at 7:00 AM and end at 5:00 PM

• Duration of assignment is 12 to 16 weeks

• Position will begin in the first week of November

Compensation:

• Base wage will be $16.30 / hour worked for first 8 hours worked Monday through Friday

• Workers will be paid time and a half for hours exceeding 8 hours a day and any hours worked on Saturday. Sundays and Holidays will be paid at double the base wage if worked.
