THE ROLE
Reporting directly to the Water Superintendent, the Water Utility Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for operating the Utility’s 4 MGD surface water filtration plant. This position requires that the individual become fully trained in all operations of the 4 MGD Surface Water Filtration Plant. Operates and maintains pumps, chemical feed equipment, process equipment, filters, SCADA system, and building facilities. This position will work 3rd shift until the Treatment Plant remodel and expansion is completed. After which, the position will work a rotating shift.

  • Fills out daily plant record and turbidity monitoring sheets hourly; Checks and records chemical weight levels for coagulant, phosphate, fluoride, and carbon hourly;
  • Tests turbidity and chlorine hourly; Performs chlorine contact time calculations hourly.
  • Performs lab work including the sampling of bacteria, pH, phosphate, and fluoride
  • Fills and monitors 3 elevated storage tank; Backwashes filters as needed.
  • Receives and distributes Diggers Hotline requests
  • Collects samples, and prepares and submits required reports (lab results, water usage, etc.) to DNR, EPA, and PSC.
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS
What does it take to succeed in this role? We’re looking for a motivated individual with strong project management skills and a willingness to learn. You should also have:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) or more years of relevant experience in water, wastewater, or public works
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license; Valid Wisconsin CDL or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire
  • Surface Water Grade 1 Certificate and Distribution Grade 1 Operator’s Certificate issued by the state of Wisconsin or ability to obtain within two (2) years of hire
