Food Service Cook for School Lunch

The server/cook works cooperatively with the school and lunch program staff under the direction of the principal and, as directed, the Plymouth School District Food Service Managers, to prepare and serve meals to the students and staff. This individual should enjoy working with children in grades Pre-school through 8th, contributing to a welcoming and positive environment.

Reports to: Principal

Standard Hours: Part-time. 10:00 am – 1:00 pm when school is in session.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve meals as directed by the Plymouth School District staff in accordance with USDA meal pattern requirements.
• Coordinate with the Plymouth School District staff to maintain appropriate inventory
• Clean facilities and equipment
• Ensure high standards for food safety/sanitation and meal quality.
• Participate in continuing education as required by the DPI.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance on the job
• Ability to maintain records for accurate reporting for WI Department of Public Instruction (DPI) National School Lunch compliance.
• Maintain confidentiality with regard to DPI civil rights expectations.

• Follow oral and written instructions and established procedures
• Demonstrate time management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal social skills
• Able to work effectively with team members, school personnel, and students
• Knowledge of food service and food safety
• Knowledge of kitchen operations and equipment
• Able to problem solve and think independently
• Able to keep accurate records and reports for daily record keeping
• High School Diploma

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand and/or move for extended periods of time.
• Ability to stoop, reach, bend.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to operate dishwashing machine and other kitchen equipment.
