LGBTQ+ Lighthouse Program Manager

Lighthouse is a peer-to-peer social support program for LGBTQ+ youth and their allies, providing weekly and monthly groups and occasional special events. Our groups are relaxed and social in nature. We build community through art, games, and discussion. No bullying is ever allowed, and everyone is given a chance to be heard in a safe and casual setting. Youth from any town are welcome at any group or special event.
Position Description:
The Lighthouse Program Manager is responsible for all aspects of running the Lighthouse program at Kids In Crisis. This includes training and supervising staff/volunteers, recruiting youth and volunteers, developing relationships with community partners, designing and facilitating youth groups, community advocacy, managing social-media, and developing educational materials and trainings. The manager is responsible for maintaining and re-designing the program, as needs arise or creativity sparks. The manager is expected to be an active participant in the Kids In Crisis leadership team. Morning and evening availability required; some weekend events as needed.
Position Requirements:
- Passion for helping the LGBTQ+ community and the needs of youth
- Mental health experience or training
- Supervisory experience of staff or volunteers
- Group Facilitation 1+ years
- Program coordination, design, or implementation experience 1+ years
- LGBTQ+ identifying and/or LGBTQ+ ally
- Ability to develop professional relationships with program stakeholders and professional relationships with youth/parents
- Advocate for LGBTQ+ community and mental health support
- Creativity to design program
- Ability to drive to various locations within Fairfield County
- Self-starter and comfortable working independently and on a team
- Emotional professionalism and strong understanding of boundaries with people
Education and Skills:
- Master's degree in human service field preferred
- Bilingual preferred (English plus one other; Spanish preferred)
- Basic computer skills with basic/intermediate experience in Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Canva, Instagram, Facebook
- Experience working with youth required
- Ability to work with a diverse group of staff, volunteers, and community partners
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of, and/or willingness to learn, current LGBTQ+ issues and terminology
Additional Job Requirements and Physical Demands:
