RBT/Specialized Programs Coordinator

A Bridge To Achievement is seeking an energetic and career-minded professional to join our team! We are currently hiring a full time Specialized Programs Coordinator for our ABA Center location in Winston-Salem, NC. The applicant must be willing to work between the hours of 8:00AM and 6:00 PM, though scheduled times may vary. Some travel will be required.

The Specialized Programs Coordinator is an experienced behavior technician who is responsible for running group times within the Early Learner Program and Older Learner Program. In addition, the Specialized Programs Coordinator will need to provide 1:1 and/or group therapy to A Bridge to Achievement’s (ABtA) learners on their individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy programs. The Specialized Programs Coordinator is responsible for building/maintaining rapport, group time program implementation, data collection/entry, and keeping up-to-date on programming goals/changes for each learner served. The Specialized Programs Coordinator may be asked to support the Early Learner Program and Older Learner Program in coordination with program management and directors. This involves ensuring the smooth implementation and running of programs and schedules, and ensuring the modification of the classrooms alongside the program managers and supervisor, and learners’ BCBAs. The Specialized Programs Coordinator reports to the Specialized Programs Supervisor but may also report regularly to the Early Learner Program Manager and the Older Learner Program Manager and the Director of Center Services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

All tasks and duties are to be done under direct supervision from a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

• Leads group activities and group circle/hangout times across EL and ADL classrooms.
• Assists in the maintenance of EL and ADL classrooms (returns/cleans up items at the end of group times, changes schedule/slides before next activity, etc.).
• Assists with overall schedules for specialized programs by starting scheduled group times on time and ensuring appropriate including pace of programming/activities.
• Receives feedback from Specialized Programs Supervisor/Managers and BCBAs who have learners in the program for items to target during group times.
• Provides group time support for learners within the programs.
• Reviews effectiveness of programs and materials and collaborates to adapt them to meet varying needs and developmental appropriateness of learners.
• Adapts programming both in group settings based on BCBA requests and effectiveness of learners' quality of access.
• Resets program materials for all classrooms as needed including but not limited to: resetting group time charts and materials, changing books for the week,, replacing craft/fine motor activities for the week, rotating toys/activities, checking that all craft supplies are available for following weeks’ activities, ensuring games are organized and have needed pieces, ensuring games are appropriate for all learners and/or implements adaptations as necessary, changes schedules/slides on Google drive.
• When there are cancellations, assists with other tasks for Specialized Programs as delegated by Specialized Program Supervisor, Early Learner Program Manager, or Older Learner Program manager.
• Communicates with learners’ teams including direct care staff, Managers, Directors, BCBAs, etc.
• Attends and contributes to trainings, team meetings/debriefings/workshops.
• Works constructively and cooperatively with professionals from within ABtA and other organizations (e.g. school district personnel, speech/language pathologists, care coordinators, etc.).
• Participates in continuing education activities and stays abreast of current research in the field of autism treatment/education.
• Recognizes the need for and seeks support and guidance from supervisors regarding all aspects of the job.
• Manages staff morale, evaluates policies and procedures, and provides input for improvement to supervisors.
• Develop strong relationships with BCBAs and BTs and continuously address concerns as well as check-ins with staff to determine overall program effectiveness and establish a culture of collaboration.
• Follows and enforces all A Bridge to Achievement policies and procedures.

This position will be expected to implement direct 1:1 or group based ABA therapy in the afternoons (roughly 2-6pm; actual end time may vary) after the responsibilities above have ended for the day. When providing 1:1 and/or group-based ABA Therapy:

• Ensures the safety of learners served
• Implements individualized Applied Behavior Analysis treatment plans that target skill deficits in the areas of social, play, communication, safety, and self-help, among others, as outlined by direct supervisors
• Directly implements individualized Behavior Intervention Plans that target the reduction of challenging behaviors
• Consistently and accurately collects and enters data during treatment sessions as instructed by their direct supervisor
• Promotes learner morale through positive and effective oral communications
• Adheres to the BACB’s RBT Ethics Code, regardless of credentials
• Must comply with all ABtA’s policies, procedures and ethical code of conduct
• Can model typical direct session interventions for new shadowing employees
• May independently run informal case reviews with new staff on cases
• Maintains certification per the BACB’s requirements and yearly competency assessment conducted by supervisor

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to observe and move with learners in their natural environments (e.g. home, school and outside or in community).
• Must be able to demonstrate working and playing with learners; must be able to sit on floor on ground and move easily in this capacity
• Must be able to lift small learners
• Must be able to utilize safe non-violent crisis intervention techniques with learners of all ages.
• Must be able to teach and assist with toileting skills.
• Must be able to perform the following gross motor activities
• Climbing (e.g. upon playground equipment)
• Bending over (e.g. to assist learner with writing)
• Squatting (e.g. to assist learner putting on shoes)
• Running (e.g. running through a sprinkler with a learner)
• Carrying (e.g. teaching materials, toys, art supplies)
• Must be able to manipulate teaching materials and write data
• Must be able to type on a computer keyboard.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff
• Ability to travel to various locations and on-site training locations as needed
• Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the telephone

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, ABA, Psychology, or related field preferred
• A minimum of 2 years of Applied Behavior Analysis experience required
• Previous experience in Early Learner and/or Older Learner Programs preferred
• Experience with ages 3-7 in ABA setting required
• Experience with ages up to 21 preferred
• Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification or above required
• Must be fun, upbeat, energetic and creative
• Must adhere closely to the agency and BACB’s ethical guidelines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong professional and presentation skills
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Strong computer skills including strong Microsoft Suite skills & smartboard skills
• Willingness to learn and utilize ABA program management software

• A criminal background check, driving record check, healthcare registry check is required for this position
