Job Description

 

We are seeking an Industrial/ Commercial Electrician to join our team. In this position, this team member services our clients' water pumping systems and water treatment facilities as needed. The team member responds to repair calls, performs project work, and makes periodic visits for inspections and preventative maintenance. The main priority of this service member is to make sure our client's business is not interrupted by electrical problems. The team member also installs and repairs electrical wiring and controls on a variety of systems, each being unique.

FUNCTIONS

Following all standard operating procedures, quality control and safety standards:

  • Inspecting, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical components and systems such as Variable Frequency Drives, single and three-phase motor controllers, and apparatus.
  • Installing new electrical systems, including wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus including Variable Frequency Drives, pump control panels, motor starters, and tank level controls.
  • Be familiar with and have worked with both single-phase and three-phase power including 480-volt systems.
  • Identifying and repairing electrical problems using a variety of testing devices such as amp meters, insulation testers, and Volt-Ohm meters.
  • Basic knowledge of low voltage DC and AC control power, relays, and small control transformers.
  • Reading and interpreting electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Carrying out preventive maintenance to avoid unnecessary repairs.
  • Documenting repairs and maintenance procedures for future reference.
  • Adhering to all safety policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Communicating effectively with management, engineers, and co-workers about maintenance progress and challenges.
  • Installation, troubleshooting and repair of water treatment and pumping systems; initial and ongoing training to be provided.
  • Maintaining inventory of electrical supplies and equipment on the service truck.
  • Perform general electrical maintenance.
  • Inspect transformers, circuit breakers, and other electrical components.
  • Repair and replace equipment, electrical wiring, or fixtures.
  • Eventual training other electricians and apprentices and supervising their work
  • All other tasks as assigned.

ATTRIBUTES

    • Experience as a journeyman or completion of an apprenticeship program is highly desirable.
    • Self-starter with the ability to handle tasks and make decisions.
    • Strong communication abilities, both verbally and in writing.
    • Electrical code and regulatory knowledge at the national and state level
    • Ability to read schematics, plans and other technical documentation.
    • Electrical systems, hand tools, and industrial equipment knowledge.
    • Working knowledge of various testing equipment.
    • Ability to discern, obtain and maintain optimum work efficiencies.
    • Have great troubleshooting abilities, and be solution-oriented, adaptable, and driven.
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalenT.
  • Valid driver’s license w/ clean driving record & minimum 5 years licensed driving experience.
  • 2 years field and associated experience in related field preferred.
  • Ability to problem solve and execute proper standard operating procedures.
  • Good working knowledge of computers, tablets & smart phones.
  • Eventual inclusion in rotating after-hours on-call schedule.
  • Ability to work overtime when needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to physically perform the repairs to electrical and pumping systems including, lying on the back or stomach, bending, kneeling, stretching, twisting and climbing as required to get to work areas and to maneuver heavy materials while installing or removing. Ability to climb ladders and dig trenches. Strength to pull wire through conduit, tightly torqued/coupled pvc and galvanized pipe, lift heavy parts up to 25 pounds frequently, and occasionally lift up to 70 pounds.

  • The team member normally works in outside weather conditions. The team member frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, ambient air, temperature extremes, fumes or airborne particles, traffic, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration & moderate to high noise levels. Team member will be in all year round weather conditions while traveling to and from job sites. Occasionally the team member will work inside our shop.

BASE PAY RANGE

  • $73,000 - $93,500 per year
