Clerk of the Water Board (Civil Service exempt position)
Salary- Work week Monday- Friday)- ( $55,000-$65,000) year depending on experience
Benefits- NYS Retirement, Health Insurance or Health Insurance buyout, Dental, Vision, 2 weeks paid
vacation, 2 days paid personal, Sick time accumulation and Paid Federal Holidays.
Job Duties- Works closely with Water Board and Superintendent to achieve Water Dept operations.
Attends all Water Board meeting and prepares minutes of the meeting
-Gathers meter readings from system to ensure accuracy in billing
-Reviews preliminary billing run of computed water billings, make adjustments to bills and reviews final
run before bills are sent out.
-Collects and administers payments
-Computes the Water Boards payroll and maintains all records related to payroll, including retirement,
FICA, taxes and similar payroll deductions.
-Complies and prepares pertinent data for Annual budget from primary sources such as records and
reports of the Water Board.
-Assists in preparation of annual budget
-Maintains and updates personnel records of Water Board employees
-Supervises a staff of clerical employees engaging in performing routine duties, such as, keeping various
clerical records and typing reports related to Water Board operations.
-Oversees operation of Water Boards office to ensure processing of required work by clerical employees.
-Works with auditors yearly to provide information for yearly audits conducted.
-Oversees account payable and receivable departments.
Job Qualifications- Graduation from High School or possession of a high school equivalency diploma
A regionally accredited or New York State registered college with an minimum Associates college
degree in accounting or closely related field or 3 years of experience in municipal/government and
budgetary procedures.
At least 1 year experience at a supervisory level
Willingness to work as a team leader in a busy office setting.
Ability to interact with the public and answer/remedy different situations that may arise.
