Position Title: Nutrition Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC)


Location: Arizona Veterans Research and Education Foundation is based on the Phoenix VA Medical Center Campus in Phoenix, Arizona. We are near the light rail.


Schedule: Part-Time (29 hours/week)


Minimum Contract Obligations: 1 year  


Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications; range $30.00 to $32.00 per hour


Background: Arizona Veterans Research and Education Foundation uniquely partners with the Phoenix Veterans Administration Health Services and is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) to work on projects to improve healthcare delivery and health outcome for veterans. The Research Coordinator will provide coordination and administrative support for the AZ Veterans Research and Education Foundation and trials associated with Phoenix Veterans Administration Health Services, universities, pharmaceutical device companies, and Pharmaceutical Industry Clinical Trials. AZ Vet Research and Education Foundation and Principal Investigator supervise the research coordinator position. General duties include coordinating active and forthcoming study protocols, implementing study protocols, collecting and monitoring data, and reporting compliance.       


Position Description: The Nutrition CRC will be responsible for managing the Nutrition Research Program at PVACHS including various nutrition studies and the Nutrition-focused Summer Research Program. They will oversee activities and details of these programs and measure overall program success. The CRC will work closely with PIs and Research Leadership to advance the objectives of the Summer Research Program. Duties consist of administrative tasks, budget tracking and analysis, and program oversight and implementation.

 

Objectives of this role:


  • Coordination of staff and students for various classes, activities, and learning opportunities as part of the Summer Research Program
  • Assist with recruitment and on-boarding of Summer Research Program students and Research Assistants.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory protocols.
  • Promote the advancement of nutrition research at PVAHCS.
  • Maintain research records and may assist in basic laboratory maintenance such as ordering supplies, maintaining inventories and service and usage logs for scientific instrumentation.
  • Assist PIs in creating, administering, recording, and analyzing quantitative, qualitative, and statistical data, and other assessments to track and evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the Summer Research and Nutrition Programs
  • Assist with planning and implementation of Strategic Plans, including attendance and participation in research group meetings, brainstorming sessions, and relevant workshops and presentations.
  • Perform audits and oversight to ensure research staff adherence to approved protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with identifying and resolving problems.
  • Supervise students and programming of all activities for Scholars and Research Assistants
  • Participate in the preparation of reports, presentations, promotional materials, newsletters, and other communication.
  • Coordinate meetings and events, including internal and external partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Screen and consent patients for nutrition studies
  • Help with editing on scientific manuscripts. May assist with preparation of figures and methods sections for research presentations and scientific journal articles.
  • May assist in the development of research protocols.
  • The CRC may also perform other research tasks as defined in the VA R&D committee-approved protocol.

 

Preferred qualifications:


  • Prior successful clinical research experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a science-related field (preference given to RD or nutrition degree)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Proficient verbal and writing skills.
  • Experience generating analytical reports and measuring program impact.

  • Ability to clearly communicate with various stakeholders (Research Administration, Oversight Committees, PIs, students, and other research staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.
