Position Summary.
Under the direction of the Billing Supervisor, the
Billing Clerk is responsible for the timely processing or primary and secondary
billing; for the month-end report generation and data entry.
Duties and Responsibilities
Works
with clients to ensure that either have insurance coverage or are enrolled in
Maryland Health Connection
Minimum Requirements
Education/Training: Some college preferred but
not required. High School Diploma required. Some experience in Finance,
Accounting, Medical Billing or similar field required.
Work
Experience: Minimum
2 years' experience in Billing Department or similar office environment. The
successful incumbent must have demonstrated experience working with insurance
vendors, state agencies and enrolling clients in the appropriate insurance
programs. Additional experience processing insurance claims/bills helpful but
not required.
Special
Software Skills: Demonstrated
excellence with current version of Microsoft Excel, as well as abilities to use
entire MS Office (Outlook, Word, and to a lesser degree, Access). Ability to
learn in-house software. A high level of experience in working with current
version of QuickBooks.
Sobriety: If
Recovering, two (2) years documented, current sobriety.

Works
with clients to ensure that either have insurance coverage or are enrolled in

- Reviews
insurance pre-authorizations and verifications and tracking payment and payment
plans. - Uses
appropriate billing codes to submit for payment and works to ensure timely and
accurate payment from vendors - Coordinates
and distributes week end report generation and production. - Assist
Billing Supervisor with insurance vendors for Tuerk House with regard to
billing issues, inquires and corrections. - Corrects
electronic claim errors within 7 days of claims submitted. - Assure
that client information records are appropriately filled. - Record
payments received to appropriate log. - Post payments received to appropriate patient's
account.
- Strong
skills related to accounts receivable, and billing. - Ability
to receive and maintain confidential client billing information. - Demonstrated
ability to understand and follow insurance billing regulations, processes and
procedures. - Ability
to be detail orientated and focused on larger goals and objectives required. - Excellent
computer skills including experience using email, finance management
applications and other related applications, required. - Advanced
Excel or spread sheeting capabilities required. - Strong
work ethic and ability to work effectively with senior and operational management,
which includes government agencies and insurance vendors. - Excellent
organizational, oral and written communication skills required. - Strong
analytical and problem-solving skills required. - Must
be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent
decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
