Our decorators are essential to creating the ultimate customer experience. Decorators are tasked with designing and decorating cakes, cupcakes, and cake squares as requested by customers for special occasions, such as birthdays, weddings, baby showers, anniversaries, etc. To be a successful decorator, we ask that employees stay abreast with the latest styles, techniques, and trends.

Individuals will work a variety of hours, including weekends and all holiday eves/weeks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Ability to take direction and communicate effectively and respectfully within a small team: knowing how to work independently while maintaining an overall effort for teamwork for common daily goals/orders.
• Box cake square & cupcake orders based on time.
• Possess the ability to decorate basic cupcake and cake square orders.
• Decorating simple bakery items according to the long-standing traditional Dewey’s Bakery standards and designs.
• Use decorating tools to ice and border standard round and sheet cakes.
• Having knowledge of how to use buttercream icing.
• Ability to check over completed cake orders & identify errors that need to be fixed.
• Participate in the daily ordering of cakes for next day orders.
• Assists with other store duties as assigned; such as taking inventory of baking items, cleaning and sanitizing all work areas, decorating equipment for daily, weekly, monthly requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Decorating portfolios are preferred
• The ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English
• Ability to work as part of the team
• Detail oriented and creative personality
• Effective communication skills
• High level of customer service skills
• Ability to perform the essential job functions listed above
• Bilingual is a plus
