Summary of Duties:
Responsible for the Job Cost analysis among other accounting duties. Perform Job audits and reconciliations. Review and analyze WIP and Contract Status reports. Responsible for the accounts receivable function - post receipts, notify project managers, research discrepancies.
Title: Project Accounting Specialist (Temporary, 6-Month Contract with the potential for Direct Hire)
Reporting to: Project Accountant
Pay Range: $30-$35/hr
Work Schedule: Initial training in office, followed by remote work option
Contract Duration: Up to 6 months with a possibility of permanent employment for suitable candidates
Qualifications:
- Experience with Construction Accounting Software.
- Background in Manufacturing and Construction industries.
- Knowledge of Sales and Use Tax (preferred but not mandatory).
- Proficiency in Accounts Payable.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with spreadsheet management.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Analyze and research variances in actual job charges and commitments verses budget.
· Analyze and research physical percent of completion verses financial percent of completion.
· Assist with creation and interface of contract billings.
· Review and analyze WIP and Contract Status reports.
· Review invoice coding for accuracy, proper approvals, and reasonableness.
· Respond to inquiries from subcontractors, job staff and project management.
· Prepare job close-out documentation and monitor close-out process to completion.
· Process purchase order agreements.
· Calculate sales and use taxes on invoices from vendors/suppliers.
· Prepare sales and use tax returns for numerous taxing authorities.
· Post cash receipts.
· Maintain a positive working relationship with supplier’s/subcontractors' accounting staff.
· Promptly return all phone calls in a polite and professional manner.
· Keep sensitive information confidential.
Professional Career Level:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
· 3-5+ years of relevant experience.
· Indirect supervision.
· Fully competent in all conventional aspects of subject matter or functional area.
· Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation/modification of standards.
· Devises new solutions to problems encountered.
· Independently performs most assignments with instruction.
· Receives guidance for unusual or complex problems and supervisor approval for changes in standards.
