Summary
Drives truck with capacity of more than 3 tons, to transport materials to and from specified destinations, by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Flatbed driving experience.
Prepare reports (i.e. safety reports)
Examine vehicle to detect malfunctions, damage, or maintenance needed
Service vehicle with water, fuel, or oil
Load, unload, or stack containers, materials, or products
Strap/secure loads (tarp/unload tarp when required)
Class A commercial license
Maintain driver log according to I.C.C. regulations
Use established traffic/ transportation procedures follow traffic laws
Perform safety inspections in transportation setting
Read maps - use geographic positioning system (GPS)
Use local or regional geographical knowledge to transportation
Use weighing or measuring devices in transportation
Verify cargo against shipping papers
Prepares receipts for load picked up. Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions. Performs emergency roadside repairs as required. Positions blocks and ties rope/straps around items to secure cargo during transit.

Education and/or Experience
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
