We are looking for a skilled and experienced Pilot/Mechanic to join our team based out of our Woodstock, Georgia office. Position Summary:

In this dual-role position, you will use your expertise both in piloting aircraft and in aircraft maintenance. As an ideal candidate, you possess exceptional flying skills along with comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems, mechanics, and avionics. In this role you will be responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation in support of Smith Douglas Homes.

Your responsibilities will include weather briefings, fuel planning, filing of flight plans, transportation logistics and ensuring the safety of all passengers, crew and cargo.

You’ll be in a role that is critical to Smith Douglas Homes as you help to ensure efficient utilization of the existing fleet to enhance transportation of key decision makers to conduct critical company business.

What You’ll Do:

  • Flight Operations:
    1. Safely operate various aircraft in accordance with established protocols, procedures, and aviation regulations.
    2. Conduct pre-flight inspections to ensure aircraft airworthiness.
    3. Review routes and create flight plans.
    4. Communicate effectively with air traffic control and ground personnel during flight operations.

  • Aircraft Maintenance:
  1. Perform routine and scheduled maintenance tasks on aircraft, including inspections, servicing, and repairs.
  2. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and avionics issues to ensure aircraft readiness.
  3. Conduct post-flight inspections and documentation to assess and address any maintenance requirements.
  4. Collaborate with the maintenance team to develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures.
  5. Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including logbook entries and maintenance reports.
  6. Stay updated on industry developments, regulations, and best practices related to aircraft maintenance and avionics.

  • Safety and Compliance:
    1. Adhere to all aviation regulations, safety standards, and company policies to ensure safe flight operations and maintenance practices.
    2. Participate in safety training programs and contribute to the development of safety protocols.
    3. Conduct risk assessments and implement risk mitigation measures during flight operations and maintenance activities.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Multi-Engine and Instrument Rating.
  • FAA CFII (Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument) certification preferred.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificate.
  • Minimum of 1,500 hours of flight experience, with experience in Lear 60, Lear 31, Baron and Cirrus preferred.
  • Proven experience in aircraft maintenance, with a strong understanding of aircraft systems, mechanics, and avionics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with flight crews and maintenance personnel.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
