Microchip FTS located in Boulder, CO is considering candidates for a self-motivated, intensely customer focused, Sr Engineer, Product / Test to work with our team. This position will be primarily responsible for providing on-going technical support for the Space, Defense and Avionics Group.The candidate will possess excellent hands-on, product engineering skills.  The candidate must be able to multitask but also be able to focus to bring a project to a successful conclusion while also supporting other efforts

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Sr Product / Test Engineer I will:

  • Support transition of new products from design to production
  • Develop testing methodologies for new products
  • Design and validate new test stations and fixtures
  • Create engineering documentation (change notices, parts lists, bills of materials, test reports, and test procedures)
  • Provide technical guidance to production test technicians pertaining to failure analysis, test methodology, and corrective actions
  • Troubleshoot production hardware to determine root cause of failures and document and identify corrective actions
  • Work with suppliers to resolve technical hardware issues
  • Optimize processes to reduce cost and increase throughput
  • Maintain processes and procedures in accordance with ISO9000 standards
  • Determine, create and analyze metrics to target cost improvements
  • Support hardware integration and test
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electronic systems and equipment used in manufacturing

 

Essential Qualifications

  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required
  • Minimum B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent related experience
  • 3-5 years work experience in high-tech manufacturing environment
  • Experience performing electrical and mechanical troubleshooting using test and diagnostic equipment such as digital multimeters and oscilloscopes
  • Ability to work independently.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to develop ATE and bench test systems using standard lab equipment; network analyzer, power meter, RF signal generator, etc.
  • Experience using LabVIEW, LabWindows, Visual Basic or C
  • Design of evaluation PCBs, probe cards, and test fixtures
  • Ability to layout electrical circuit and schematics
  • Experience with AutoCAD and related design and layout software tools
  • Experience using Six Sigma or working in a Lean Manufacturing environment
  • Experience utilizing SPC or DOE
  • Experience with Frequency Control Products such as oscillators and reference clocks.
