Job Description

This Controller role is open as a result of the company's strategic growth plan.

Controller – Your Job Duties:

As the company Controller, you will serve as the head of the accounting department and oversee all of the company finance and accounting operations.

  • Oversee the accounting functions and any accounting team members (team of 3) including payroll and accounting, serving as back up when needed for overflow work or staff vacations
  • Perform month end close procedures including performing all balance sheet account reconciliations, credit card statements, adjusting journal entries
  • Preparation of monthly financial statement package (P&L and balance sheet)
  • Identify areas of improvement to streamline and improve the month end close process
  • Payroll Processing – Oversee the processing of payroll (both weekly and bi-weekly), performed by payroll clerk (includes prevailing wage payroll and complex payroll reporting)
  • Perform job costing accounting and inventory accounting (identify process improvements with current cost accounting and make improvements, ongoing monitoring and cost accounting)
  • Assist with preparation of annual preparation of company budget, and ongoing analysis of budget-to-actual performance
  • Review quarterly commission payments
  • Complete monthly sales tax calculations using Avalara software (multi state)
  • Prepare third party reports and filings (ie: annual company insurance documents, benefits information, bank reporting)
  • Assist with human resources functions, coordinating with third party HR consulting firm

Controller – Personality, Experience & Team Fit (Required):

  • You are experienced in performing full cycle accounting including month end close procedures and generating a financial statement package
  • You are adaptable and enjoy and understand the really great aspects of working in a small business and with a close-nit team (and the flexibility that it requires)
  • Ability to work daily in office in Diamond Springs, California

Controller – You Might Have (Desired, Not Required):

  • Experience with Accumatica ERP accounting platform
  • Experience with job costing accounting, construction or manufacturing accounting

This role is based in Diamond Springs, California and is an in-office role.

Compensation $120,000 - $150,000 annual salary, including potential for annual incentive bonus.
