POSITION:

Direct Support Professional
(Specialized DSP with Behavioral Experience)
for Adult Day Program

DAYS & HOURS:

Mondays - Fridays
8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

LOCATION:

North Hollywood (San Fernando Valley)

RATE of PAY:

$21 - $25 per hour
(depending on experience)

REQUIREMENTS:

Behavioral Experience

Must Answer YES to ALL of the Following:

• Are you available from 8am - 3pm, Monday through Friday?
• Are you willing to drive your PERSONAL VEHICLE approximately 100 miles per week on the job with a client?
• Are you willing to drive a COMPANY VAN approximately 100 miles per week on the job with multiple clients?
• Our clients require varying levels of support in the following areas: verbal and non-verbal communication, toileting, and mobility. Are you willing to support clients in all of these areas?

Direct Support Professional with behaviors experience.

The Ideal Applicant...

You are willing to learn and follow routines that are different from yours. You are kind, patient, and you like to laugh. You sing along to songs on the radio, and you also enjoy stretches of comfortable silence. You are also tech savvy (use Alexa, set alarms, play music, and look at YouTube videos).

Active listening, patience, and flexibility are key skills that you exemplify because you understand that the client's needs are priority. Individuals that you've supported trusted you because you let them lead and you adapted to their needs each day. You learned their preferred communication style, interests, and goals. You implemented their feedback with compassion.

Above all, you understand that your role is to support your client, not change or control them. You have experience supporting adults who have behavioral intervention plans. You have helped individuals implement proactive and reactive strategies for self-regulation. You have crisis prevention and intervention experience, and you are able to model calm, level-headed behavior for the individual you support. Training and ongoing support provided.

Meet Our Client...

She is a sweet, funny, playful, and endearing young woman who has autism. She enjoys working out at the Y, attending yoga and singing lessons, and participating in Zumba class. Aside from these activities, she has flexibility in her day-to-day schedule - some days are busy and some are laid back. She enjoys occasionally socializing with her peers, but she prefers to spend most of her time 1:1 with her staff.

One of her goals is to improve her time management skills so she can create a routine that allows her to explore her community and make the most of each day.
