Divisional Assistant Controller

Located in West Valley City, UT

Full-time

Shift: Day Shift - 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Monday - Friday)

Position Description

We are looking for an experienced Divisional Assistant Controller to join our SilencerCo Accounting team. As the Divisional Assistant Controller you will provide financial leadership in general accounting, general ledger, monthly close, yearly close, financial reporting, audit support, budget support, general analysis, accounting staff management, and foster an environment of sound financial process and high integrity.

This position reports to the Corporate Controller.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensures timely financial reporting by managing the monthly and annual accounting close process, reconciling general ledger accounts, and monitors and provides reporting/covenant requirements by banks, financial institutions, and other related groups.
  • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, constructing, interpreting, and reporting financial statements and other related financial data and analyses.
  • Maintains integrity of financial recordkeeping and reporting by maintaining the chart of accounts, historical financial statements and reports, and ensuring the company's ERP system is functional and properly implemented and maintained.
  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, documenting, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, documenting, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting periodic internal audits and providing information and support to external auditors.
  • Prepares annual department budget by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
  • Achieves department budget objectives by analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
  • Prepares special reports and analyses by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local taxes and legal requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintains Accounting staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, periodically evaluating, and general management of accounting staff.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college
  • Relevant work experience as an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller or Controller is required
  • Master's degree (MBA or MAcc) is a plus, CPA preferred
  • Public accounting experience is a plus
  • Experience using various financial software ERP platforms, Odoo experience is a plus.
  • Experience innovating, developing, documenting and implementing standards, policies and procedures
  • High attention to detail, team player, and the ability to work and manage in a fast-paced, growing environment
