Preschool teacher

Storyteller Children's Center seeks a passionate, experienced, and motivated preschool educator. The teacher will implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum in collaboration with the site supervisor and maintain a classroom environment consistent with child development and program performance standards.

ABOUT US

Storyteller Children's Center is a therapeutic preschool providing high-quality early childhood education for children facing adverse challenges in Santa Barbara County and comprehensive support services for their families. We operate three fully licensed education centers serving children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age. We strive to prepare our students for kindergarten, increase resilience, and promote protective factors in children, caregivers, teachers, and the community. We focus on positive social-emotional outcomes for our students by providing culturally and developmentally appropriate learning environments and supporting parents in gaining new techniques and skills to help their role as their children's first teachers.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

● Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Gmail, Google platform, and Zoom.

● Ability to meet requirements of Community Care Licensing.

● First Aid/CPR certification preferred.

● Express and demonstrate appropriate early childhood principles and practices.

● Maintain a pleasant, responsive, constructive attitude toward the program and establish healthy working relationships with participants' families.

● Ability to complete written reports and required documentation timely and accurate.

● Ability to safely supervise and teach children from three to five years of age.

● Bilingual (English/Spanish) is beneficial.
 

EDUCATION, LICENSES, AND CERTIFICATES

●Minimum of 12 units in ECE, including core courses. 

●Minimum of six (6) months of experience with preschool children in an educational environment.

●Child Development Teacher Permit is preferred.

●Hold or obtain a valid Pediatric First Aid and Pediatric CPR card and update as required (fees reimbursed).
 

SALARY

●Position starts at $23.00/hour, depending upon experience. This is an hourly, non-exempt position.

●Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance and a retirement plan after 30 days of employment.

●Sick/vacation accrual and paid holidays.
