POSITION SUMMARY

Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) respond to emergent and non-emergent calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured, and to transport the patient to a medical facility in a safe, secure, and professional manner.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key function satisfactorily based on five overall skills categories; assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation and teaching/coaching. POSITION SUMMARY EXPANDED:

Under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act,?(“The Unity Bill”) this position is considered a “Safety-sensitive position. “Safety-sensitive” is defined to include “any job that includes tasks or duties that could affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task or others.” Employees working in “safety-sensitive” roles are subject to this exception and subject to disciplinary action in the event of a positive test for marijuana or its metabolites.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assess a patient’s condition and determine a course of treatment
  • Provide first-aid treatment or life support care to sick or injured patients
  • Report their observations and treatment to physicians, nurses, or other healthcare facility staff
  • Document medical care given to patients
  • Inventory, replace, and clean supplies and equipment after use
  • Transporting patients and clients utilizing company vehicles in a safe and professional manner.
  • Effectively communicate with headquarters regarding schedule progress and instructions
  • Complete daily vehicle pre-trip and post trip inspections, and maintain vehicle cleanliness
  • Assist clients and patients as needed to safely complete the transfer
  • Must be able to accurately complete activity logs/vehicle reports.
  • Must be able to understand and operate GPS devices and cell phones
  • Perform all duties as assigned by Cohesive MediRyde.

Shifts

  • Three / 12-hour shifts per week
  • Five / 8-hour shifts per week
Requirements:

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to project a professional Image.
  • Must comprehend, and comply with company rules and policies
  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license
  • Must possess good driving record
  • Pass a mandatory pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
  • Must pass a mandatory criminal background test
  • 1-2 years of EMT experience preferred
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for employment in this position.
  • Freedom from illegal use of drugs.
  • Freedom from use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Obtain and maintain BLS within 90 days of employment
  • Current EMT Certification Required
