Cashier/Short Order Cook at ROBBERS ROOST MINI MART

Robbers Roost Mini Mart, situated in Inyokern, CA, seeks a cashier/short order cook to complement our robust team of four. Located at 49901 Hwy 14, we're in search of a candidate who is alert, driven, and proactive. Compensation is provided on a bi-weekly basis.

Responsibilities

Setting up, cleaning, and organizing the workstation. Preparing ingredients for the shift, which includes washing vegetables, chopping, and seasoning meat. Preparing the oven, grill, and fryer for the shift. Taking orders and inputting them into the POS system. Greeting store/cafe customers in a friendly and helpful manner. Paying attention to the details and presentation of each order. Placing and expediting orders. Preparing ingredients by following recipes; this involves slicing, cutting, chopping, mincing, stirring, whipping, and mixing ingredients; adding seasoning; verifying taste; and plating meals. Baking, grilling burgers, fries, pizzas, biscuits, gravy, taquitos, and other foods. Presenting, garnishing, and arranging final dishes. Occasionally serving food.

• Collecting payments by accepting cash or charging payments from customers and making change for cash customers. Verifying credit acceptance by reviewing and operating credit card authorization systems. Balancing the cash drawer by counting cash at the beginning and end of the work shift. Greeting all customers in a cheerful and helpful manner. Stocking and organizing inventory.

Qualifications

No experience is required as we provide training. Applicants must be able to bend and occasionally lift 20-30 lbs. The job involves standing or walking for 4-8 hour shifts. Excellent customer service skills are needed, along with the ability to handle cash transactions and basic math skills. Attention to detail is crucial. While experience as a cashier or in customer service is preferred, it is not mandatory. Candidates should be able to process transactions both accurately and responsibly.

Applicants should either possess or be willing to obtain a food handler's permit. Proficiency in food safety, hospitality, cooking, and sanitation is required. Candidates must be capable of following instructions to cook and deliver well-prepared meals, be agile in the kitchen, and skilled at multitasking. The ability to work with various ingredients and cooking techniques is also essential.

The ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented kitchen environment, as well as independently, is essential. Additionally, knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices is crucial.
