Job Description
Position Summary:

The Speech/Language Pathologist in Family-Centered Early Supports and Services (FCESS) will provide speech therapy, parent training, developmental assessment, service coordination and family support to infants and toddlers who are enrolled in The Moore Center’s FCESS Program. Serve as service coordinator/case manager ensuring the coordination of all aspects of FCESS programming as outlined in the Individual Family Support Plan (IFSP), and facilitate effective communication among all IFSP team members.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work with children, families and other members of the FCESS team to provide comprehensive early intervention services for children enrolled in The Moore Center’s FCESS Program
  • Serve as FCESS eligibility evaluator: complete written evaluation reports describing child’s individual strengths, skill levels and areas for growth in all areas of development
  • Provide speech therapy recommendations and child development expertise during the development of IFSPs
  • Schedule and provide individualized therapy and service coordination for assigned children as detailed on the child’s IFSP
  • Provide written “carry over” activity suggestions that help parents and caregivers support the child’s progress and overall development between home visits/therapy sessions
  • Complete all paperwork in a timely fashion, as identified in the Paperwork, Policies & Procedures for FCESS Service Providers handbook
  • Maintain utilization /productivity rate of at least 50%
  • Support and guide families through the process of transitioning from FCESS to public preschool special education services or other community-based preschool activities as appropriate
  • Serve as speech therapy consultant to other members of the FCESS team
  • Participate in scheduled staff meetings, co-visits with other therapists and peer supervision activities, both formal and informal
  • Complete required annual trainings as identified by NH Bureau of Developmental Services (BDS)/FCESS and Agency policies
  • Attend team meetings, case conferences and other meetings as assigned
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned


RequirementsQualifications:
Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in Speech Pathology or Communication Disorders
  • Current State of New Hampshire license in Speech/Language Pathology
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a safe operating vehicle during scheduled working hours
  • Professional experience working with young children and their families
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database systems Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated commitment to The Moore Center’s values Ability to comply with all state, agency and department policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and the ability to master new software
  • Demonstrated ability to establish rapport, develop and maintain strong, respectful working relationships with very young children, families, FCESS staff, and state and regional colleagues
  • Strong knowledge of early childhood language development, both typical and atypical
  • Working knowledge of early childhood development across all areas of development, including cognitive, language, social-emotional, gross and fine motor development
  • Demonstrated understanding of Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP)
  • Understanding of best practice relative to home visiting and FCESS services
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a trans-disciplinary team
  • Working knowledge of NH FCESS
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and commitment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks, responsibilities and deadlines Demonstrate creative, innovative thinking and problem solving
  • Interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills

Additionally, staff are required to maintain criminal, motor vehicle and Bureau of Elderly and Adult Services record checks that meet agency standards. Staff are also required to travel and transport clients when applicable. This includes having access to a reliable vehicle, a valid driver’s license and maintaining personal auto insurance of $100,000/300,000.
