Job Description

Purpose: We are seeking an Electromechanical Assembler to become an integral part of our team! You will perform assembly line tasks as well as identify areas of improvement to increase efficiency. Assemble subassemblies, follow schematics, drawings and other written and verbal specifications by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read and follow blueprints and specifications to determine component parts and assembly sequences of electromechanical units percompany procedures.
  • Perform bench-type processes to complete mechanical and electrical assemblies and sub-assemblies, using hand tools and electronic tooling.
  • Assemble parts or units; position, align, and fasten units to assemblies, subassemblies, or chassis, using hand tools or electronic tools.
  • Position, align and adjust parts for proper fit and assembly.
  • Installs moving parts, such as shafts, or bearings, tests for free movement.
  • Surface mount and through hole soldering and under microscope soldering.
  • Knowledge of wire color code and size of wire gage.
  • Be familiar with circular, D-sub and other connectors.
  • Cable and harnessing, to include routing, solder sleeves, splicing and wax string lacing.
  • Inserts color-coded wires in designated locations on connectors and clinches wire ends.
  • Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.

Non-essential functions:

  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
  • Completes tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Follows assembly procedures per Company procedures
  • Build and assemble wire harnesses (handling small, intricate and delicate mechanical parts)
  • Experience with surface mount and under microscope soldering
  • Experience with wire color code and gauges of wires
  • Experience with circular, D-sub, other connectors, wires and pins
  • Experience with torque drivers and wrenches
  • Use of small hand tools (crimpers, strippers and pliers)

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
  • Five years of related experience

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
