Job description

Cold Spring Fish provides the freshest fish and shellfish available alongside a selection of caviar, smoked fish, local specialties and gourmet pantry items. Fresh sushi and poke bowls are prepared daily along with a variety of grab and go soups, salads, seafood cakes and entrees.

Your job will include:

• Providing friendly and professional customer service
• Treating customers and co-workers with respect and courtesy and communicating effectively
• Cutting and weighing fish to a customer's specifications
• Wrapping and labeling fish and shellfish
• Helping customers with fish selection and sharing knowledge of preparation and cooking techniques.
• Answering customer questions about our products and helping them find what they need in the shop.
• Taking orders (in person and over the phone) with attention to details
• Using the POS system to ring up customers efficiently and accurately
• Keeping your workstation clean and sanitary throughout the day
• Keeping food stored at the appropriate temperature as per Department of Health standards
• Keeping the fish case, refrigerator, freezer and store shelves stocked and priced correctly
• Rotating, restocking and straightening products to maintain an attractive display
• Unpacking deliveries, checking for accuracy, and stocking cases and shelves with new and existing products
• Entering inventory amounts in POS system
• Portioning, weighing and labeling prepared foods
• Helping assemble customer orders for pickup and delivery
• Identifying products that are expiring and notifying co-workers
• Being open to taking on new duties as business grows

You must have:

• 1+ years working in customer service and sales in a retail shop including familiarity with POS systems, inventory and order follow-up
• Excellent customer service and organization skills
• Ability to work in a team, assisting co-workers
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, remaining calm and productive
• Ability to retain product knowledge
• Ability to work for 8 hours including standing, walking, bending and squatting
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
• Reliable transportation to and from the shop
• Must be able to work weekends (Saturdays and Sundays)

Ideally, you will have:

• Experience working with fresh fish and shellfish
• Knowledge of cooking with seafood and gourmet ingredients
• Good knife skills
• Ability to filet, cut and debone fish
• Ability to shuck oysters and clams
• Merchandising skills

Job Types: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

We provide Lunch every day prepared by our Chef. We offer flexible hours.
