Oertel Metal Works is currently seeking a reliable and safety-oriented Industrial Blast Equipment Operator for our Davenport, IA location.
The Industrial Blast Equipment Operator role will prepare parts by being the primary operator of the companies’ industrial blast equipment – processing parts of various sizes and materials to specific levels of cleanliness. This role will also help transport, stage, coat parts, or other duties as required by the Paint Lead. This role is responsible for ensuring strong quality standards are met by following instructions and paying attention to detail.
Position Responsibilities:
- Prepare customers' parts through an abrasive blasting operator.
- This may also include using tools such as orbital and dual action sanders, pneumatic grinders, and chemical products.
- Move materials, parts, and equipment to complete job set-up.
- Ensure part substrate is prepared adequately and according to customer specifications.
- Follow daily instructions, schedules, and processes.
- Collaborate with other team members.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understand the Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC-SP) levels of surface preparation and learn/demonstrate how to achieve each level.
- Ability to work by oneself.
- Use hand tools to prepare parts for painting.
- Maintain a clean work environment.
- Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook proficient.
- Ability to become fork truck certified.
This position works Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm each day, with the option for overtime.
