Salary: $40 -$50 per hour
Animal Specialty Center in Yonkers, New York is seeking a Per Diem Radiation Therapist who is looking to join a fast paced, forward thinking hospital.

Radiation Therapist:
- Maintains appropriate treatment and simulation records and data.
- Performs required quality assurance procedures and documents accordingly.
- Reviews all set-up instructions, radiation prescriptions, consents, treatment plan, and any other documentation related to treatment delivery.
- Visually monitors the patient during treatment.
- Maintains licensure, registration, and certifications as required.
- Works within the Practice Standards as defined by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.
- Explains treatment process to the client in a clear and concise manner that promotes understanding when needed.
- Answers any questions that the client may have which is within the scope of practice of the radiation therapist.
- In charge of inventory and ordering of radiation supplies and equipment.
- Oversee radiation CT simulation and positioning for new patient set ups.
- Collaborate closely with radiation oncologist on all aspects of patient treatment.
- Assists licensed veterinary technician and veterinary assistants with patient preparation and recovery.
Required Skills:
- Two years of clinical experience or graduate of a JRCERT-accredited program in radiation therapy or a suitable equivalent
- Certified and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy or ARRT Board exam eligible
- Eligible for licensing by the New York State Department of Health as a radiologic technologist.
- Dosimetry experience or willingness to learn dosimetry – be responsible for registering imaging for treatment planning and contouring of normal structures
- Strong medical skills and knowledge.
- Patient/client-oriented.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency with computer platforms and applications for Varian Eclipse and Aria. (Training will be provided.)
- Experience with stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), and image guided radiotherapy (IGRT).
- Demonstrates enthusiasm and initiative to begin and complete tasks.
Desired Skills:
- Two years of clinical experience in Radiation Therapy or any related health science field
- Experience with Varian TrueBeam radiotherapy preferred
- Strong interest in veterinary medicine and knowledge of the field.
