Job Description

Sheet Metal Workers will fabricate, build, and install various types of metal structures and equipment for a commercial construction project.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Ability to complete sheet metal projects with accuracy and precision.
Ability to safely use machinery and tools involved in sheet metal work.
Ability to follow directions.
Ability to read blueprints and schematics to understand product assignment.

Education and Experience:

Must have at least 1 year of experience working as a Sheet Metal Mechanic.
Successful completion of an apprenticeship or a three-year, in-company training program preferred.
Certified scissor lift operator.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods lifting, reaching, and working on scaffolding and overhead structures.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Select types of sheet metal according to building or design plans
Measure and mark dimensions and reference lines on metal sheets
Drill holes in metal for screws, bolts, and rivets
Install metal sheets with supportive frameworks
Fabricate or alter parts at construction sites
Maneuver and anchor large sheet metal parts
Fasten seams or joints by welding, bolting, riveting, or soldering
