Benefits Specialist/HR Generalist will collect, compile, and analyze HR data, metrics, and statistics related to all aspects of Human Resources, employee benefits and leave, applying this data to make recommendations related to employee benefits and leave entitlements.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Collects and compiles key HR metrics and data from a variety of sources, including human resource information systems (HRIS) and payroll outputs, benefits enrollment records, management and employee surveys, exit interviews, personnel records, government labor statistics, competitors’ practices, and other sources. Analyzes data and statistics for trends and patterns with attention toward benefits enrollment, absenteeism, leave use, recruitment, motivation, turnover, and compliance with employment laws and regulations. Prepares reports of data results, presenting and explaining findings to senior leadership. Identifies and recommends reasonable short- and long-term goals, milestones, and benchmarks for key performance metrics. Based on metrics and analysis, makes recommendations for policies and activities to improve existing metrics including changes to benefits, leave, and compensation offerings. Researches or coordinates with appropriate benefits administration staff to research alternatives for health, wellness, and retirement plans and benefit providers. Facilitates implementation of new leave programs, benefits plans, and other related initiatives. Ensures compliance with data privacy regulations and best practices. Ability to process from beginning to end the annual 5500 filing and work closely with the broker record keeper & auditors. Will conduct New Hire Orientation based on the business need and while working closely with the Recruiter to align scheduling. May assist HR leadership with staffing, recruiting, and departmental budgets. May guide and/or assist with performance, benefit, and compensation review and evaluation processes. Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or related field a plus. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP a plus.
WORK EXPERIENCE A minimum of 5 years experience in related areas such as job classification and compensation, HRIS system processing/reporting, heavy employee benefits background, and/or equal opportunity compliance required.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal laws involving employment, HR, and benefits administration. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS (ADP), payroll, and similar human resources management software and practices
