Diesel Automotive Technician

JOB_SUMMARY
The Fairfield Chevrolet Diesel Automotive Technician is responsible for providing expertise in the assembly and repair of diesel engines, powertrains, vehicles and associated parts and components. This individual must be highly motivated, enthusiastic, and have above-average technical skills. The Technician is also responsible for providing quality workmanship and excellent customer service in a timely manner.

COMPENSATION_AND_BENEFITS
The Diesel Automotive Technician will receive a competitive wage of $32 per hour, paid weekly and additional benefits may be included.

RESPONSIBILITIES
•Perform diesel engine assembly and repair
•Inspect, test, and adjust sub-assemblies on vehicles, such as diesels, transmissions, and other related powertrain components
•Troubleshoot and diagnose diesel engine malfunctions
•Perform routine maintenance activities on diesel engine components
•Perform installation and repair work according to repair orders and customer requirements
•Communicate with customers to explain repairs, recommendations, and answer potential questions
•Keep all shops up to date with current work in progress
•Adhere to safety and quality control guidelines
•Maintain a clean and organized workspace

REQUIREMENTS
•Automotive industry experience with diesel vehicles
•Ability to read and interpret OEM technical manuals and diagrams
•Ability to understand and troubleshoot electronic systems, computer diagnostics, and electronic module related issues
•Competence in the use of basic hand tools, shop tools and equipment
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification a plus
