Patient Care Technician

Zeifert Eye Care is a full scope, patient focused optometry practice that's expanding in Highland Park, IL. We are seeking a full time optometric technician to join and grow with our team.

Training will be provided.

Hours & Availability

Average 32-40 hours a week, currently looking for someone to generally work Monday through Friday, as well as a rotating Saturday morning.

Location

Zeifert Eye Care is located at 1849 Green Bay Rd Highland Park, IL as part of the Renaissance Place shopping district.

Responsibilities

The technician will be responsible for patient pre-testing, and additional medical testing as required. Most importantly, he or she must be friendly, outgoing, enjoys working with patients, and willing to learn. The medical assistant is expected to be an extension of the doctor's patient care. New Hires will be trained on all tasks and equipment.

• Conducts all optometric testing on patients
• Teaches patients how to insert and remove all contact lens type
• Fields patient phone calls regarding medications, contact lenses, and general medical questions
• Provides back-up support to the front desk and optical
• Address any patient concerns with patience and a caring attitude
• Read contact lens prescriptions as written by the eye care providers, and follow all instructions accordingly
• Submit orders to vision plans when appropriate.
• Record retention of all sales in EHR system including inventory management.
• Communicate with patients regarding their insurance benefits and pricing.
• Ensure complete patient confidentiality as established by the practice policies and HIPAA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred.
• Reliable, self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic who is excited for the opportunity to work within a growing optometric practice
• The ability to work independently and in a fast pace environment
• Experience in a medical office (preferred)
• Experience with commercial medical insurance and vision plans (preferred)
• Customer care centric focus.
• Strong organization and problem solving skills
• Proficient with Google applications

Required education:

High school or equivalent
