Asset Management - Data Scientist

We are looking for an experienced data scientist who is interested in joining an innovative and fast-growing storage group. You will be trusted to focus both on the storytelling aspects of data science as well as complex model development for investment ideas and operational improvements.

As part of the asset management group, you will work closely with operational and investment personnel to proactively identify investment and operational opportunities, draw insights from in-house investment and alternative data, innovate solutions, and enhance operational effectiveness.

A background in finance is preferred but not necessary. This role is in Denver and requires a physical presence in our office three days per week.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work with operations and accounting personnel to understand sources of opportunities and improve the decision-making process
• Build tools and systems to understand decision data, context, and events around it to enhance net operating income
• Work with partners in technology and user experience to build out tools providing real-time insights to the team
• Take part in projects along the full data science spectrum., from data acquisition and wrangling to model selection to presentation and data visualization.
• Create analysis reports and presentations, deliver ad-hoc analysis in Tableau, Excel, R or Python
• Engage with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver insights to help shape their actions
• Running data science research projects; creating of tools, techniques, and practices to maximize the efficiency of the team
• Liaise with IT to develop and enhance technical tools including steering the development of the analytics data warehouse for enterprise data
• Apply various modeling techniques to uncover insights in data
• Describe your results and findings to tell a story with data
• Explore new data sets and their interaction with existing models
• Be a core member of our team, tackling multiple projects at once
• Take on a broad scope of work and an evolving role

• Relevant FP&A experience required
• 1-3 years of relevant experience in Financial modeling and forecasting
• Programming experience in one or more of the following; Python, R, VBA, SQL
• Strong proficiency in Tableau and Excel
• Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Business or Physics, statistics, or other quantitative field
• Strong analytical/modeling skills and business orientation with proven ability to use data and analytics to drive business results; strong technical background
• Demonstrate solid experience working within a data science team, including time-series analysis and modeling
• Strong knowledge of Python for data scientists (e.g., pandas), traditional Machine Learning, and deep learning libraries (e.g., scikit learn, xgboost, TensorFlow, Torch, etc.)
• Data manipulation languages (e.g., SQL)
• Data visualization/presentation skills (e.g., Tableau)
• Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to present findings to a non-technical audience
• Passion for learning and adopting a wide range of techniques in an agile environment
• Be a results-oriented individual who is passionate about impactful research with real-time feedback
