    • Active Home Inspection certification or willingness to acquire one (does not guarantee employment, but company requirement for consideration by hiring manager)

The home inspection industry is a great career choice for those who have working knowledge in some aspect of construction or property management. Any individual who is “handy” and has an attention to detail, the desire to learn something new every day, and the ability to communicate effectively will also be considered. Being a home inspector can be personally and financially rewarding!

The day-to-day duties performed by a Home Inspector include:

    • Provide detailed information through written and verbal communication regarding the findings of inspection

    • Ensure client receives unbiased yet neutral feedback regarding findings

    • Build trust with clients and real estate agents using a calm demeanor, consistency, honesty, thoroughness and communication

    • Produce consistent services, both written and verbal

    • Communicate value to client regarding additional services that are provided

    • Communicate as a team player within the organization regarding opportunities of improving service, value and product offerings

Physical requirements: A home inspector should be in good physical shape and condition as they will often be performing the following physical tasks:

  • Carrying, setting up and climbing a 12-foot ladder
  • Accessing and walking on various roof materials, sometimes traversing areas/roof surfaces that are 20 to 30 feet from the ground.
  • Accessing and traversing attic spaces (tight spaces and high temperatures are common), good balance and equilibrium are needed.
  • Accessing and traversing under structure crawl spaces (tight spaces, often contain pests, remnants of pests, insects, spider webs, moisture, electrical and other components of the foundation of a structure).
  • Ability to work in high temperature environments (summer) and low temperature and wet environments (winter), outside work is required no matter what type of weather on the day of the inspection.
