As a Child Family Advocate (CFA) you would encourage and support families in their personal growth, strengthen and build community connections. Providing strength-based case management services so that children and families can
thrive.
Responsibilities
- The Child Family Advocate ensures family partnership policies and procedures are met by partnering with and supporting classroom teachers, home visitors, and families.
- Engages, through the use of motivational interviewing, in mutually respectful goal-oriented partnerships with families to promote parent-child relationships and family well-being
- Support families' safety, health, financial stability, life goals, and aspirations by guiding them in identifying the strengths they already possess for solving their challenges, sharing resources with their approval, and accepting their choices
- Support families in developing goals through the use of research-proven strategies such as motivational interviewing, routines-based interviewing, or family mapping
- Conducts home visits with families to support goal development and implementation through the use of motivational interviewing
- Organizes and facilitates parenting classes using the Conscious Discipline parenting curriculum at minimum two times per year
- Data entry within the Child Plus software system.
- Participates in training, staff meetings, conferences, and similar activities that promotes development of
the program; - Facilitates parenting classes/ focus groups/ parenting workshops
- Offers Conscious Discipline parenting classes to all families enrolled in our EHS and HS programs, at
least twice a year, as well as additional opportunities for parents/caregivers (book study, targeted make
and take sessions, etc.) as need or requested while accommodating to the delivery mode and timeframe - Offers parenting classes in a manner that accommodates the needs, abilities, and desires of the parents
and caregivers. This may mean offering virtual sessions, individual sessions, and sessions outside of
normal business hours. - Participates in trauma-informed training and applying trauma-informed Conscious Discipline related
practices in their work. - 50 percent travel within Douglas county.
- Gathers and aggregates parent education pre- & post self- assessment data
- Assists Child and Family Lead in analyzing family and community engagement data and planning next
steps - Runs and analyzes attendance reports;
- Document and follow up on any family specific referrals and services

Qualifications
- 40 hours per week
- Required: Associate degree in social work, human services, psychology or a related field ($17.81/hr)
- Preferred Bachelor's degree in above fields (increases rate of pay to $18.75/hr)
