Job Description

Job Summary: The Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and driving of light to heavy construction-based equipment. Drivers perform manual tasks in connection with construction, industrial work, and various other sectors. Duties require initiative and independent judgment in the care and operation of equipment, as well as mechanical aptitude and skillful coordination of eye, hand, and foot movements.

Essential Functions:
  • Safely and efficiently load and unload materials from commercial motor vehicles.
  • Legally, safely, and efficiently travel to destinations through public and private roads.
  • Understanding height, weight, and length limits for company's fleet of trucks to load trucks safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure that appropriate paperwork is completed as per company policy.
  • Complete mileage and fuel usage reports.
  • Follow delivery procedures by taking photos of the delivered shipment after completing each delivery.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of all equipment.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Perform required safety audit of vehicle (daily safety audits, weekly brake inspections) and promptly report any malfunctioning equipment as required by Federal and state regulations and company policy.
  • Promptly report all accidents/incidents.
  • Annually update driver's qualification file as required by Federal and state regulations and company policy.
  • Maintain yard, warehouse, and vehicle cleanliness during work.
  • When requested, participate as a member of the safety committee.
  • Performs other tasks and duties assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong organizational skills

  • Familiarity with GPS devices or map applications
  • Ability to manage time and routes for a streamlined delivery experience.
  • Ability to use a computer and apply relevant software applications.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of vehicle safety audits and reports of any malfunctioning equipment as required by Federal and state regulations and company policy.
Minimum Requirements
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License; specifically hold a CDL Class A.
  • Current DOT Medical card
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
Physical Requirements:

Must also submit to a post-offer / pre-employment background report & motor vehicle check.
  • Work is performed in a standard office environment with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Subject to standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting objects up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Ability to pass DOT pre-placement physical and physical capacities exam.
