The University of Saint Mary is a Roman Catholic, liberal arts university located in Leavenworth, Kansas, just 25 minutes away from Kansas City. POSITION SUMMARY:

The University of Saint Mary, a Catholic liberal arts university in Leavenworth, Kansas, invites applications for an open Assistant Professor faculty position in the MSW Online Social Work Program.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the school's overall social work curriculum, initiate and publish research, teach three graduate level courses per semester, advise and mentor MSW students, collect assessment data, and serve on Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences and University committees. USM and the Social and Behavioral Sciences Division have a close, collegial faculty dedicated to the teaching-learning relationship. There will be opportunities for the candidate to participate in and/or leading grants, academic affairs, and professional development. Teaching responsibilities for this full-time, tenure-track position will include graduate courses in either/both synchronous and asynchronous formats. Telecommuting is permitted. Preferred candidates have a strong social justice orientation and demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion who can teach in any of the following areas: clinical practice, integrated health networks, health and mental health, and/or forensic social work.

All faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, an on-going program of research, publication, and/or other professional activities designed to enrich student learning and service to the community and profession. Faculty engage in advising activities; teach assigned courses in the graduate program; engage in scholarly activity; provide service to the institution, profession, and community; assist in program changes that are aligned with best practices and CSWE standards; and, participate in program accreditation requirements and activities.

REQUIREMENTS:

A Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) from a CSWE-accredited program and two-years of full-time post-graduate experience required. A doctoral degree is preferred (may be a PhD, DSW, EdD, or JD) The successful candidate will demonstrate having worked collaboratively within an agency, department or university, and under the supervision of others. Candidates should demonstrate strong cultural competence, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills necessary for effective collaboration with a diverse community of faculty, students, staff and external agencies. The candidate will have interest in exploring new teaching technologies.
