Salary: $20.80/hour

Excelsior Wellness Center is looking for a Recreation Aide to join our treatment team.


Excelsior Wellness Center, a subsidiary of Excelsior Wellness, serves a broad and diverse base of individuals and families with the primary aim of identifying goals and making positive steps toward accomplishing them. As a Recreation Aide, you will play a vital role in providing support and services to youth and families participating in our recreational programs. Collaborating closely with Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialists, you'll assist in implementing a diverse range of activities, including arts, crafts, sports, games, dance, drama, music, and outings. Your contribution will be instrumental in fostering physical, mental, and emotional well-being among participants. By joining this dedicated team of professionals, you'll actively contribute to advancing overall wellness. This position is a regular part-time benefitted role  (20 hours/week) with the opportunity to increase hours during the summer season to support recreation camps.



How to Qualify:

  1. Minimum High School diploma or equivalent; obtaining or currently possessing a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
  2. Experience in planning, scheduling, and facilitating recreational and leisure activities.
  3. Ability to obtain challenge course certification as needed to maintain and facilitate onsite challenge course activities.
  4. Ability to work with a diverse population of staff and clients.
  5. Minimum one year of experience working or volunteering directly with youth; prior experience with at-risk population preferred.
  6. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make ethical and safe decisions.
  7. Ability to manage individual stress and perform essential job functions; safely and professionally.
  8. Must be 21 years or older
  9. Ability to pass a criminal background check, per organizational standards.
  10. Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record, per organizational standards.
    1. New employees with out-of-state licenses must obtain a Washington State Driver’s License within 30 days of employment*


Core Responsibilities Include:

  1. Follows and implements interventions outlined on treatment plans or recreational services plans that meet clients’ needs and interests.
  2. Encourages clients to acquire new skills and get involved in health-promoting leisure activities.
  3. Provides hands-on instruction to program participants.
  4. Maintains therapeutic recreation equipment and supplies as needed for activities; ensures supervisor is aware of any equipment malfunctions or needs.
  5. Assists in other areas as determined by program needs and delegated by direct supervisor.
  6. Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

  • Employee & Spouse: $50 monthly premium/ $500 deductible.
  • Employee & Family: $50 monthly premium/ $500 deductible.
