SUMMARY:
The Teacher's Aide supports the Teachers and the Lower School Principal by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Assisting the staff in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the children and their parents, the Teacher's Aide observes and documents children's interest and progress, and relays that information back to parents and staff. Teacher's Aides are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests and needs under the direction of the Teacher and the Director.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide academic support for students in one-on-one environment or in small group settings
- Manage the Learning Center
- Function as a testing proctor
- Provide short-term relief for teachers (phone calls, etc.)
- Assist in preparation of curriculum and worksheets
- Coordinate volunteers for classrooms
- Keep teacher files up to date
- Help Admissions Coordinator with entry testing
- Coordinate volunteers for standardized testing
- Order office supplies for FBA and PDO
- Organize school closets
- Assist with morning and afternoon car line, as needed
- Distribute faculty mail
- Assist with vision screening
- Assist in the organization and execution of school wide events, such as Field Day and Awards Day
- Inventory classroom furniture to ensure teachers have necessary equipment and supplies
- Promote and advocate for the school and district mission and vision statements
- Support academic and developmental goals that have been set for students - ensure that data collection is accurate and timely so that every success is measurable
- Support the school's culture and practices for inclusion
- Conduct all work activities in a professional manner
- Demonstrate commitment to working in a diverse school community and/or work environment
- Other duties as assigned by Direct Supervisor
REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion to help others follow Jesus
- High School diploma or GED
- Highly energized and motivated individual with strong initiative
- Ability to work well with others (including student, teachers, staff and parents)
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills
- An understanding of child development
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to enforce discipline policy when students engage in inappropriate conduct
- Minimum of 1-2 years of professional child care experience (preferred)
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification (preferred)
- Additional training within the Early Childhood field (preferred)
