We are looking for a Cost Accountant to support our Graphics Team out of our Houston, TX Location.

SUMMARY:

The Cost Accountant is responsible for serving as a valued member in the finance department while working closely with the engineering department and ensuring these departments create accurate and timely reports for the Houston facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Completes month-end closing activities including journal entries and account reconciliations accurately, timely and support quarter and year end closing activities.
  • Performs variance analysis based on month end results.
  • Distribute daily production reports
  • Compare the actual cost of the finished product to the estimated cost, determine the reason for any discrepancy, and how to remedy.
  • Reviews and updates standard costs, roll standard costs, when necessary.
  • Assists with the coordination of both internal and external audits.
  • Supports the Division Controller with analysis of customer and business vertical profitability
  • Other reporting activities or projects as required.

.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Experience with JD Edwards a plus; experience with in an ERP environment required, MS Office, including Excel & Word.
  • Prior Cost Accounting experience required.

  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Intermediate Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
