Overview

Growing aesthetic practice seeks extraordinary Medical Assistant (MA), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide the highest-level of care in our Medical Spa. Candidate must have a fun, cheerful and positive demeanor, willing to work hard and go the extra mile, have a passion for all things aesthetic.

Position Summary and Scope:

The Medical Assistant under the supervision of the Health Center Nurse Manager is responsible for assisting in the delivery of occupational, primary, urgent, and emergent care in an ambulatory setting with emphases on prevention, treatment, and health maintenance.

Escort patients to exam rooms, Assist providers during procedures, Properly care for and clean equipment to ensure OSHA and medical board standards, perform setup, properly clean and restock provider room as required for procedures (ie disposing of sharps kits, wiping down chairs, restocking supplies), maintain well-organized work environment, Provide/review pre/post instructions to patients as directed by providers, Take telephone messages related to clinical questions/concerns and provide feedback/answers to patients as directed by providers, call pharmacy as needed, administer medications if necessary, and manage provider schedules.

Reports To: Health Center Nurse Manager

Licenses/Certifications: Current active Clinical Certified Medical Assistant active CPR/BLS certification

Areas of Responsibility:

1. Patient Care – The medical assistant must display a commitment to a high level of patient care and customer service. The MA performs essential care functions including but not limited to;

  • Take accurate vital signs and document in medical record
  • Document patient medications and
  • Document medical history and review of systems/symptoms
  • Perform screenings per protocol (PHQ-9, GAD, etc.)
  • Review preventive care and alert provider to any pending needs per WeCare guidelines
  • Triage patients and notify provider of any emergent concerns
  • Administer IM medications
  • Perform phlebotomy and obtain laboratory samples
  • Perform CLIA Waived Laboratory Testing
  • Perform in house tests such as but not limited to; EKG, Pulmonary Function Testing, Vision Screen and Hearing
  • Assist the clinical staff in completing examinations and procedures
  • Provide patient education as directed.
  • Prepare procedure supplies for medical provider
  • Clean exam rooms as needed and after visits
  • Pull medications per providers orders for dispensing
  • Maintains strict confidentiality per HIPAA

2. Administrative/Operations – The Medical Assistant is integral in ensuring smooth health center operations. As such, the MA will be expected to:

  • Greets patients upon arrival in a warm and friendly manner
  • Schedule patient appointments
  • Maintain medical records, incorporating scanned documents into EMR
  • Coordinate outside appointments
  • Make post-visit follow up calls
  • Request medical records and respond to medical records requests
  • Perform and document equipment calibrations including but not limited to: PFT, Hearing Booth, EBT (BAT machine), Vaccine/Medication Refrigerator and Specimen Refrigerator.
  • Ensure exam rooms are stocked
  • Perform pharmacy and other inventory at specified intervals
  • Maintain a clean workplace
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives

Experience/Skills

  • Medical Assistant (MA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license REQUIRED.
  • Phlebotomy/Venipuncture expertise REQUIRED.
  • Previous Aesthetic Medical office desired.
  • Aesthetic knowledge base a plus.
  • Must be familiar with healthcare scheduling software.
  • Comfortable with technology and working on a computer.
  • Seeking long term relationship.
  • Excellent customer service skills, strong communication skills, extremely meticulous, efficient team player.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional and courteous manner with customers, coworkers and management.
  • Flexible schedule.

Typical Physical and Mental Demands

Requires constant (67% - 100% of the time weekly) standing or sitting for long periods of time, reading and comprehension, visual acuity, focus for extended periods, mental alertness, oral communication, and decision-making. Requires frequent (34% - 66% of the time weekly) bending, grasping, sitting, reaching, lifting up to 30 lbs, and hand-eye coordination. Requires occasional (0-33% of the time weekly) movement around an office or health facility. Requires constant answering/using the telephone. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires constant reaching to file and retrieve file information. Requires ability to communicate clearly. Requires constant work on a computer, in front of a monitor and with use of a keyboard and mouse. Requires occasional travel. Requires ability to work under the pressure of deadlines.
