SUMMARY
The Semi CDL Truck Driver /Loader drives commercial truck primarily to deliver or pick up materials to and from specified destinations and maintains associated records. May load and unload trucks and perform other shipping and receiving duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Drive tractor-trailer combination to transport and deliver products and materials, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations.
· Follow company motor vehicle safety guidelines and applicable federal and state DOT and motor vehicle regulations. Comply with DOT guidelines for safety-sensitive positions.
· Inspect truck before and after trips and submit report indicating truck condition. Service truck with fuel, oil, radiator fluid, etc.
· Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy. Maintain all required logs, forms and records.
· Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, chains, binders or covers.
· Load or unload trucks or help others with loading or unloading, using special loading-related equipment or other equipment as necessary.
· Operate equipment, such as truck cab computers, CB radios, phones, or global positioning systems (GPS) equipment to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers.
· Use and maintain the tools and equipment found on commercial vehicles, such as weighing and measuring devices and load straps.
· Perform shipping/receiving and other job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent, and 3-5 years of experience in driving operations with a Class A Commercial driver's license.
A valid CDL (Commercial driver's license) is required. A Forklift license may be required. Commercial drivers must be over the age of 21 years.
